The end of an era

As most people know by now, Bobby Knight has retired from coaching.  This bringing a storied career to an end and one of the all time great coaches and personalities has stepped away from the game.  Many people either love him or hate him.  While I do not know much about him as a player, I grew up in the era of his coaching days at Indiana.  Me being an avid Ohio State fan, I wasn’t a big fan of him at first.  There were many great games and some not so great comments between the two schools during the 80’s and 90’s. But as I grew older I began respecting him more and more as a coach and he simply holds the best press conferences of any human being know to man.

Some good quotes from the General

“If I came in to recruit your son, I would tell you, your wife, and your son, that I will be the most demanding coach your son can play for. ”

“All of us learn to write in the second grade. Most of us go on to greater things.”

“Walking has been ridiculous in college basketball the past 15 years.”

“If I were in charge I’d drug test all you son’s of b*tches, not just the athletes”
